Earth's Backbone:  Palouse, WA
This area in Washington has been farmed since the 1880's, but long before that, it was home to an Indian tribe called the "Palus". While I was up on Steptoe Butte, I could only wonder what it looked like before the patchwork of crops. Along with its rich soils, this area has a rich history.
